My
work is about energy and movement. I thrive on challenges connected
to extreme sports. Balance, speed, aim and physical coordination
are primary considerations that inform my paintings and make them what
they are or rather what they become. I move and a line happens. I jump
and a different line appears. I spin and the mark I make depends on the
velocity and direction of my movement. I paint while in a state of intense
aerobic activity, which stimulates the adrenal glands and raises the heart
rate, blood pressure and breathing. Physically, I enter a crisis situation.
Mental processing speed and cognitive ability related to the urgent matter
at hand, painting, increases. All other stimuli and distractions fade.
Paintings happen, like an event. |
